We were driving around today, trying to get Milo to go to sleep, and we passed a billboard for a new local church --- one of those trendy, casual, urban, youth-oriented emergent and/or spinoff churches [Update: It seems to be ELCA Lutheran] that seem to be popping up all over. The billboard says:
jacob's well
the kind of church you're thirsty for
My thought, of course: Everyone who drinks this will be thirsty again... Goodness.
We pass by one of those big Christian churches on our way to baseball games. It is housed in what used to be the local movie theater. The billboard outside advertises "A Church for People Who Don't Like Church." My daughter's comment was, "If 'Church' means it's actually the people, then wouldn't it be a church for people who don't like themselves?" :-) Ah, yes...

"Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: 'Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.'"
