I noticed a while ago my kids were really talking about themselves a lot. So one night at dinner, the dinner topic (we rotate who can choose the topic each night) was to talk about anything other than yourself. There was a great deal of silence the first time we tried it. It was actually quite nice. :) We do it somewhat regularly and it is an interesting experiment each time.

Delores, I *love* that idea!

But I'm not sure what I would say if it were me talking... :-)

It is very challenging, especially the first time. But think of it as an opportunity to discuss other things: the faith, current events/politics, bible readings, school topics (history, science).
